Currently, the JSC “Latvijas Gāze” has sufficient natural gas reserves at the Inčukalns Underground Gas Storage Facility to continue supplying natural gas to households and market customers under the effective contracts without disruption.

In light of the situation having arisen in the energy sector and the sanctions imposed by the USA and the European Union – the energy sector, as far as the supply of energy resources to consumers is concerned, is not included in the overall package of sanctions.

In the wake of the energy crisis across Europe, the government has decided to compensate for the increase in the price of natural gas for citizens with annual natural gas consumption above 250 m3. Compensation will be applied for the period from January to the end of April 2022. Households do not need to apply for state aid; the reduced fee will be included in the billing documents automatically in accordance with the amount determined by the state.

Latvijas Gāze supplies customers with natural gas, which is the most convenient and environmentally friendly traditional fuel for consumers. At times, when environmental aspects are playing an important role in our decision-making, Latvijas Gāze has developed an environmental policy that identifies initiatives that promote greater responsibility for the environment, as well as the development and spread of environmentally friendly technologies.

As of 1st of January 2022, Latvijas Gāze has been included at the GOLD level of the In-depth Cooperation Programme.

The history of the gas supply of Latvia goes back more than 150 years, but the company as it is known today was established 30 years ago, after Latvia regained its independence.
