New distribution system service tariffs of the natural gas distribution system operator AS Gaso have entered into force as of 1 January 2026

The tariff structure is being revised to ensure a fairer and more accurate allocation of costs among users, and new fixed-fee categories have been introduced for households using gas for heating, thereby providing greater predictability of costs and long-term system stability.

On 27 November 2025, at a meeting of the Public Utilities Commission Board, the new natural gas distribution service tariffs of JSC “Gaso” were approved. The tariffs include a fixed component, based on the permitted or declared connection load, and a variable component, based on the volume of natural gas supplied.

  • The fixed fee depends on the permitted load of the connected gasified facility.
The fixed fee is included in the bill every month, regardless of whether there was any consumption. The permitted load is indicated on the meter (Qmax).

Starting in 2026, the current fixed-fee category for users with a load from 0 to 6 m³/h will be divided into two separate groups:

  • up to 4 m³/h,

  • and from 4.1 m³/h to 6 m³/h.

These changes will allow the tariffs to be more accurately aligned with consumption patterns.

  • The variable payment depends on the annual volume of natural gas consumed. The annual volume of natural gas consumed determines the appropriate tariff group for the object.

The increase in the variable part of the tariff is influenced by changes in the three-year average natural gas consumption.

*For the conversion of cubic meters, the average calorific value of 10.538 kWh/m³ is used, while in billing, kWh calculated using the calorific value of the specific month in the relevant heat zone will be applied.

The variable tariff payment has decreased for all user groups.

The reduction differs for each user group and depends on the volume of natural gas consumed.

The fixed fee is as follows:

  • For household users with permitted load:
  1. up to 4 m³/h — the fixed fee increased to €6.00 per month (excluding VAT);
  2. from 4.1 m³/h to 6 m³/h — the fixed fee increased to €9.00 per month (excluding VAT).
  • For other users with a permitted load above 6 m³/h, the fixed fee increased on average by 14%.

The services of the distribution operator Gaso account for only a part of the total natural gas bill.

For households, the total gas payment consists of five components:

  • The price of natural gas, influenced by fluctuations in global resource prices,
  • The fee for transmission services,
  • Distribution operator services,
  • Excise duty, and
  • Value-added tax (VAT), regulated by the state.

The price of natural gas is determined by the free market and fluctuates depending on the global situation, as it is linked to European gas exchange indexes.
