In February of 1999, the 25 % of shares in JSC Latvijas Gāze that the state had sold, for privatization certificates, in 1998 to Latvian citizens and JSC Latvijas Gāze employees was quoted in the Official List of the Riga Stock Exchange. Along with this quotation, many small shareholders sold their shares, which were then mainly purchased by strategic investors and the new shareholder LLC ITERA Latvija. On 23 March, 1999, 1.9 % of JSC Latvijas Gāze’s stock, which had belonged to the state, was sold at a special auction in the Riga Stock Exchange. On July 9, 1999, Ruhrgas AG transferred its shares to the company Ruhrgas Energie Beteiligungs AG. On 11 October, 1999, newly issued shares in JSC Latvijas Gāze — 2.7 % of the total shares — were sold at public auction in the Riga Stock Exchange.
