About us

In the energy sector of Baltics, JSC Latvijas Gāze is one of the leaders.

Our goal is to strengthen the position of Latvijas Gāze Group as a leader in the Latvian and the Baltic energy market by becoming the natural gas supplier of first choice for customers and by ensuring the most stable supply of natural gas for Baltic region.

The wholesale and sale of natural gas to business customers is carried out in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. After the opening of the Finnish gas market on 1 January, 2020, JSC Latvijas Gāze has successfully started natural gas trading in Finland as well. In the household segment, JSC Latvijas Gāze is the largest and the most significant natural gas trader in Latvia.

After Latvia regained its independence in 1991, a joint state-owned company, Latvijas Gāze, was established by merging the Latvian gas infrastructure and institutions. The privatization of the company was commenced in 1997 and was concluded in 2002. Since 15 February, 1999, the shares of JSC Latvijas Gāze have been quoted on the Nasdaq Riga stock exchange. Taking into account the requirements of the EU for the establishment of the natural gas market, as well as the expiry of the privatization agreement concluded between the state and the shareholders of JSC Latvijas Gāze, the unified natural gas transmission and storage operator JSC “Conexus Baltic Grid” was separated from JSC Latvijas Gāze at the beginning of 2017. On 1 December, 2017, the distribution system operator JSC Gaso was separated as well.
