Latvia, as with other Member States of the European Union, is committed to implementing certain climate objectives in the field of energy and transport. Therefore, energy and transport companies - JSC Latvijas Gāze, JSC Gaso, JSC Virši - A, Auto 100 branch in Latvia (Škoda) and Scania Latvia SIA – have launched the initiative "Vide rītdienai!" It is designed to speak collectively about the use of more economically efficient and greener energy, to strengthen cooperation between public authorities, energy and transport companies and other partners, and to work together to find solutions to meet the climate objectives of the national economy. The main objective is to promote the use of cleaner energy for transportation. CNG is one of the best alternatives to diesel in order to decarbonise the truck segment, which is responsible for around 50% of all road transport GHG emissions, as electrification is currently unrealistic.

On 11 September 2019, all companies involved in the initiative "Vide rītdienai!" signed a Memorandum containing an undertaking to cooperate and promote the development of the compressed gas infrastructure. The Memorandum is open to any company or organisation that supports its objectives.
