Starting from the 1st of July, Latvijas Gāze households will receive state aid for natural gas payments

Compensations will be applied for the period from July 1, 2022 to April 30, 2023. Households do not need to apply for state aid; the reduced fee will be included in the billing documents automatically in accordance with the amount determined by the state.

Who will receive state aid?

In order to reduce the impact of the increase in the prices of energy resources, the government has decided on compensation for the increase in the price of natural gas for households with an average monthly consumption of 221 kWh/month (21 m3/month) in a 12-month period, that have a contract with Latvijas Gāze, and for users who receive natural gas within the Last Guaranteed Delivery service (LGD).

The state aid provides that the state compensates the reduction in the amount of EUR 0.030 per kWh (without VAT) for the price of natural gas.

How can customers make sure of whether they are entitled to receive aid?

Household customers do not have to apply for the aid; the fee reduction will be granted automatically and will be visible in the payment documents sent by Latvijas Gāze. The state aid for July and August will be visible in the invoices issued in September. The reduced price of natural gas can be found in the invoice details under Product/service name Dabasgāze (Natural gas). Additionally the amount of state aid granted for the current month will be indicated.

Readings must be reported monthly!

It should be noted that during the aid period, meter readings should be submitted monthly from the 27th of the current month to the first working day of the following month. In addition, the distribution system operator Gaso may carry out a physical inspection of the gasified objects and check the meter readings. If the meter readings are found to be falsified, the state aid will not be applied.

How will the customers of the Balanced Payment find out about the aid granted by the state and how much should be paid?

Customers who paid according to the Balanced Payment until now, will already see the granted state aid for July and August in September, receiving the final balanced payment report with the included recalculation. In the following months, customers will receive an invoice every month, additionally we will send detailed information about state aid. It has several advantages:

  • Possibility to receive a settlement document every month, as a reminder of the payment to be made, clearly seeing how much is to be paid in the relevant month.
  • Clearly see the amount of aid granted by the state in the current month.
  • Reducing energy consumption at home not only helps reduce energy bills, but also reduces your carbon footprint. By monitoring the amount of energy you use each month, you can take steps to increase energy efficiency and lower your bill.

State aid to the owner or manager of an apartment building

State aid will also be granted to the owner or manager of an apartment building if natural gas is used by households. Thus, the residents who use natural gas for heating and who pay for utilities through intermediaries will also receive state aid. In this case, the contractor (manager or building owner) must apply for state aid by the last date of each month, depending on the consumption of the residents. Aid Application.
