What should be done if a party has deceased?
If the use of natural gas (heating, cooking) will be continued in the gasified object, a new natural gas contract should be concluded as soon as possible in the property.
The contract can be concluded by an heir (even if the title has not yet been registered or an inheritance certificate has not yet been issued), or by the person who has the right of ownership, use or possession of the object or the actual user of the natural gas.
The best way is to sign a contract online by submitting an application. We will send the contract to the specified e-mail address within 5 working days.
If you do not have access to internet banking or e-signature, you can conclude the contract by filling in the application for concluding the contract (in the Applications section) and sending it in a scanned or photographed form to our e-mail address info@lg.lv, or by post to 6 Aristida Briāna Street, Riga, Latvia, LV-1001 – we will prepare and send the contract to the e-mail or postal address specified by you.
Do I need to wait for the inheritance certificate to conclude the contract?
No, the actual possessor of a property can submit an application to conclude the contract.

If there are several heirs, who has the right to conclude the contract?
Any of the heirs can submit an application to conclude the contract.
How do I submit the meter readings for an address if a new contract has not yet been concluded?
Meter readings must be submitted every month from the 27th of the month up to and including the 1st working day of the following month, even if no natural gas has been used. In cases where the party has deceased but a new natural gas contract has not yet been concluded, you can submit the meter readings:
- on our website, by entering your subscriber number (the subscriber number can be found in the bill;
- By sending a text to 155, containing the following: RAD A00000000 Readings.
Instead of A00000000, enter the market number of the object (to be found in the bill).
Instead of the Reading, enter the meter reading in full cubic metres.
What if the party has deceased and gas will no longer be used in the property?
The supply of natural gas must be cut off by contacting the system operator.
Please note that from 1 January 2019, customers who do not use natural gas on their property will still have to pay for maintenance of the natural gas infrastructure.
What happens if a new contract is not signed at the property?
When using natural gas in the property without concluding a natural gas trade contract, the distribution system operator GASO is entitled to discontinue the gas supply or determine the status of the Final Guaranteed Supply (FGS) of the property.
Where will the invoice for the natural gas used in the property be received?
If we are informed that the party has deceased, an invoice will be prepared and sent by post to the address of the gasified object. If we have not yet received information about the party being deceased, the invoice will be prepared and sent to the billing address (e-mail or post) indicated in the contract.
What if the party has deceased and an overpayment has arisen on the contract?
If the property changes owners and an overpayment has been made on the contract, please complete and send us an application for recovery of the overpayment (in the Applications section) , including all the details for transferring the overpayment to your current account. If the overpaid amount is more than EUR 300, please send the application for transfer or payment of the overpayment to us by e-mail to info@lg.lv with a secure electronic signature or by post to Latvijas Gāze AS, 6 Aristida Briāna Street, Riga, LV-1001.
If the application is accepted for an overpayment that has accrued on the deceased user’s contract until the date of death – the overpayment will be paid to the heir (or transferred to a contract designated by the heir) in accordance with the submitted inheritance certificate. If more than one heir of the deceased user has applied for the overpayment, the overpayment shall be paid or transferred to each heir in proportion to their share of the inheritance.
If an application is accepted for an overpayment which has arisen after the fact of death, the application for recovery of the overpayment must be made by the payer.
